Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI)

This project was commissioned by the Committee of African Heads of State on Climate Change (CAHSOCC) and the African Ministerial Environmental Council on Environment (AMCEN). The Initiative which was developed in close collaboration with the African Group of Climate Negotiators (AGN) was intended to develop a framework to help facilitate and support African countries in identifying, planning and implementing concrete actions – including policies, communication plans, and strategies – to enhance adaptation and address loss and damage and climate mainstreaming. The Initiative also intended to provide a framework to support to African countries to access financial support for climate action from the GCF, bilateral donors or other institutions. Prof Okereke was the Principal Investigator of this UNDP-funded Africa Adaptation Initiative.
