Technical Capacity Assessment for Green Economy Transition in Nigeria: A Case of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and Five of It’s Agencies

This collaborative project between the University of Reading UK and the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology Nigeria provided the first ever detailed and systematic assessment of the technical capacity for policy makers to design and implement green growth transition in Nigeria with a focus on the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology and five agencies under the ministry. The five agencies include: (i) National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), (ii) Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), (iii) National Institute of Leather Science and Technology (NILEST), (iv) Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO) and (iv) National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA). The report contains insights and recommendations that should guide the Ministry in reworking its Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, and making strategic investments towards capacity acquisition for green growth transition in Nigeria. The project is funded by UK Research and Innovation Impact Acceleration Fund (GIAA).
